Alicia Keys, Usher, Fergie & more celebs support the philanthropic jewelry brand.
In honor of Pride Month, Same Sky, a jewelry brand founded on the vision of supporting female empowerment, has partnered with the Trevor Project, an organization that provides crisis and suicide prevention services for the LGBTQ community. Together they created the Pride Impact Bracelet. Twenty percent of the proceeds from every sale goes toward the Trevor Project's mission, with the remaining 80 percent reinvested in Same Sky's Artisan Program.
Same Sky was launched in 2008 by philanthropist Francine LeFrak as a trade initiative with the purpose of providing Rwandan women a way of earning a living. Same Sky has helped genocide survivors, victims of rape, and HIV-positive women earn 15 to 20 times the average wage in Rwanda and has created a better living for hundreds of women. The handcrafted jewelry is sold mostly online, but can also be purchased at Saks Fifth Avenue, Barney’s and Bergdorf Goodman.
#motivationmonday: "It gives me much joy to see that what I can make here in Rwanda is sold in other countries. It has improved the wellbeing of my family... My goal is to work hard, to sell more, expand my business, and build my own house and support my children’s education with the money I earn." - Clementine, Same Sky Rwanda artisan Help Clementine's success grow. The jewelry brand's mission has attracted more than 90 celeb supporters, including Fergie, Alicia Keys and Usher, who have all worn the jewelry, which retails for $45-$450.
"Collaborating with the Trevor Project for the Pride Bracelet has been such an exciting milestone for us," LeFrak told . "The services and support they offer to the LGBTQ community, and to LGBTQ youth in particular, are absolutely crucial. We couldn't imagine a better organization to partner with in celebration of National Pride Month," she explains. "Same Sky and the Trevor Project both believe in taking action to empower the rising generation so that they feel like they have a stake in their future."
